Poem – The Noise of Cities
It is not the wildness that takes me by surprise.
It is the noise that comes off the cities that waters my eyes.
Gifted to live in the forest deep.
I love the quiet of my uninterrupted sleep.
Mankind suffers because of constant noise.
The machines of man, give cities no poise.
When one lives in a world that does not allow peace.
And the hum of sounds … seem to never cease.
That is how some of life fades away.
That is how minds become weak and can be swayed.
When a soul’s light fights to be heard above the thrum.
That is when to nature I run.
In the loamy, wet soil so soft.
My heart finds joy and hope flies aloft.
I hope for an awakening so that mankind can see.
That what they have created is a toxic sea.
Filled with disruption that festers fear.
Cities that are peaceful could be the new frontier.
Allow your heart to tell you what soothes your soul.
Learn to pick a lifestyle … rather than a foxhole.
