Poem – The Wave and the Tide

 

Are you the wave drifting on the sea?

Are you the tides rising to be free?

The first is carried and does not know where to go.

The second is determined to follow the flow.

 

The wave lives on the surface that carries it along.

The tide is one with the ocean so very strong.

Do you live your life as a wave?

Or as the tide that is deeper and so brave?

 

In moments it is beautiful to just rest at the top.

Reaching for the light that seems to never stop.

In other moments something calls to our soul.

Something so ancient and so very old.

There are moments in life where we seek the safety of the land.

And moments when we know we cannot stand.

Both will teach us to find a way.

One will need to leave and the other asks us to stay.
