Poem – We Are Ribbons Woven With Black Light
We are ribbons, woven with black light,
A paradox of darkness that becomes endlessly bright,
We are the metaphor of hope and grief combined,
A living symbol of unity and division intertwined.
The colors represent the energies that seek peace,
Each of us are colors that want to make all hatred cease,
But the black light that runs through the threads,
Is a reminder of the darkness that exists in our heads.
Together they create a unique blend,
A message we seek endlessly to comprehend,
That light and dark must work to coexist,
And from that, we learn to help and assist.
Wear your colors and ribbons with great pride,
Make a promise to stand by each other’s side,
In a world of hate and discrimination,
Learn to love and accept without hesitation.
Let your colors weave through the black light,
They are a shared symbol of our human plight,
When we combine our colors we reach for unity,
And may we stand up for what is right, with dignity.
