Poem – Celebrating Halloween
Today we embrace the goblins and ghouls.
That fly around in the night ignoring the rules.
They allow us a moment to be scared and afraid.
They allow us to become a pirate or a barmaid.
We giggle and laugh from fright and glee.
We dance to our ancestors and go on a spree.
The pumpkins stare out with a ghostly glow.
And we wonder about the dimensions we don’t know.
This is the season to celebrate life and death.
And we wonder if we will take another breath.
We live in a world with no guarantees.
But tonight is the night to do as we please.
So, prepare your masks and put your costumes on.
It is time to go out and sing some songs.
Halloween is here, and candy and games await.
This is the night that we get to stay out late.
