Poem – Families Are the Compass. Love Is An Anchor

Poem – Families Are the Compass. Love Is An Anchor

In the twilight of our years, the familiar becomes a guide,

A gentle beacon leading us back, where memories abide.

A symphony of scents, a journey through cherished places,

Seeking solace in the embrace of well-worn spaces.

Yearning for constancy in a world of endless change,

A desire for stability, a wish not to rearrange.

Like a knowing horse sensing the barn’s sweet scent,

We share tales and weave the fabric of our life’s event.

Listening to the whispers that dance within our mind,

Viewing the world with a mixture of worry and bind.

Yet, within the sanctuary of our own abode,

A refuge where the shackles of the world erode.

Here, in the safety of our hallowed dwelling,

We shed the weight of societal compelling.

Free to be ourselves, to release and unwind,

To traverse the depths of thought, a respite we find.

Embrace the moments, linger in the verdant fields,

Nurtured with care, each yield a treasure that life wields.

Bestowing upon us the sustenance to endure,

Guiding us to paths of resilience and allure.

Home is more than bricks and beams aligned,

It’s a tapestry woven with moments, each defined.

A haven where safety intertwines with supper’s chime,

A stage with myriad acts, an eternal pantomime.

Within these walls, a chorus of dependencies thrives,

A mutual reliance that in unity survives.

Together, we navigate the enigmatic trail,

Unveiling vistas that lone souls might assail.

Families are the compass, showing alternate ways,

When overwhelmed, in a chaotic haze.

Love, the unyielding anchor that remains intact,

Weathering storms, even when under attack.
