Poem – Love Is A Raven That Watches And Waits
Love lingers on the edges of hate.
Inviting anyone to step beyond its horrible gate.
We think we want love when hate pulls us in.
We cannot remember how it started but it did begin.
It was the moment that we protected our heart and banished love away.
Because something hurt us so bad and caused such dismay.
That is when complex emotions of revenge tore apart our hearts.
And love drifted as a spirit, momentarily lost in the dark.
But love does not die, it waits patiently for its time.
It does not try to justify or explain such terrible crime.
Love cannot exist when hate becomes such a force.
Love knows in that moment that the river cannot change its course.
Love is a raven that watches and waits.
Love is a bird that flies above pettiness and hate.
But love is wise like a raven’s eyes.
It sees what mankind cannot manage to disguise.
In the black color of the raven’s wings.
It knows the power of love’s heartstrings.
It calls out to the sun in the sky.
And it feels the pain when it sees so many die.
I watch the ravens watching me.
They tell me to listen to the winds in the trees.
They tell me to remember to be prepared.
They show me that regardless there is no need to be scared.
Powerful people will come and go.
Lives will be lost before the great snow.
There will be those that look up into the sky.
And will always know great truth … from lies.
