Poem – My Chat With Karma
I sat with Karma, kindling her very warm fires.
I watched her weave man’s thoughts and desires.
She looked behind and took the threads from the past.
And like a witch allowed the consequences to cast.
A spell of powerful energy and might.
A spell to set the courses of mankind right.
As the smoke curled and the cries were unleashed.
I saw the monsters inside mankind’s beast.
She smiled with a calm that made my blood run cold.
She was not worried that so many would not do what they were told.
She understood that mankind was slow.
Slow to understand and even slower to finally know.
She said to me, they cannot see past their own wants.
They believe the lies, the more someone flaunts.
She looked down as she was steeping her tea.
And said they would rather fight … than ever agree.
I knew she was right and that her sharp eyes understood.
That it was human nature to refuse to do what they should.
She explained that they continue to make their own misery and pain.
Saying that sometimes she was not sure, they had a brain.
She explained that she would continue to show the paths that fail to align.
With the gifts generously given with their limited time.
She continued to sharpen all her knives and nails.
She said pain what how she could balance the scales.
And with a distant look that could see the future unfold.
I could feel my heart skip a beat and my blood run cold.
With a look in her eyes that told me more than I wanted to know.
She smiled and said that her work required her to now go.
And as I saw her walk away.
She called back and said, “Do not dismay!”
This is the process that mankind must follow.
Eventually what they create, will be too much to swallow.
