Poem – The Gifts of Conflict
When conflicts become a battle of wills.
Our ego leaps in to gather thrills.
Within conflict is a rare pearl.
There is another way for a momentary whirl.
What if we don’t need to be right.
That strips the ego of all its might.
It is hard to change a point of view.
When the mind wants everything in a queue.
I learn the most when I don’t need to be right.
That stops my ego from starting a fight.
I don’t really like my pompous and arrogant side.
It only reminds me that I have something to hide.
I hide my doubts behind certainty and pride.
I would rather be authentic and let it take me for a ride.
On the other side of conflict is a pearl of great price.
I learn so much more when I decide to listen and be nice.
