Quote
We are all mutts in the genetic mix of our ancestors.
Within our blood are contesters, protesters, and jesters.
We are holding bits and pieces of great wisdom and hardship.
We are pieces of royalty and lordship.
We are the elixir of what learned to thrive within.
And we are the hope that continues to be born again.

I am off to the green carpet of Ireland. We have many adventures ahead. I have all the raincoats and the jackets to layer and keep warm and dry.
Heavy hiking boots and lighter waterproof ones as well.
I can’t wait to feel into the culture of my ancestors. And walk on the paths of so many throughout history.
I have been reading the book, “We Don’t Know Ourselves”, by Fintan O’Toole.
This book makes me sad to hear how restricted the people of Ireland were from the 1930’s until recently. This author explains that historical moment when a few in power, controlled the flow of information, education, and artistic expression of the masses because of dogma and the rigidity of religion.
I love to study history because we see how often mankind just continuously loops around the same mistakes and how it causes so much unnecessary suffering for humanity.
I am grateful that my ancestors left and came to America. I am glad they took the risk and faced other forms of challenge in order to have an opportunity. Seems that there are more Irish in America and England than in Ireland by a longshot.
That is so interesting for me to realize …that a part of the heart and soul of Ireland had to leave Ireland to keep the culture alive and thriving in a healthy way. And that now … perhaps as we come back to our roots that we can bring that passionate free-spirited potential back to them in a new and hopeful form.
