The number 5 says to look both ways before crossing a street. Don’t assume people see you. It is important to take your face out of looking at your phone and begin to pay attention to what is happening in the world around you.

We live in a spectacularly beautiful planet, with storms and sunsets, oceans and amazing creatures. Humanity can get too much in their own mind and in their head. That is why we are here to learn about the inside and the outside. This planet is a feast for the senses. Don’t limit that experience by fixating only on one thing.

What this world teaches us is presence and to pay attention. In ancient times you needed to be on high alert because in the natural world there were many things that could try to kill you from lions to snakes. Cognitive awareness combined with great intuition was essential for survival.

In the modern world we have become somewhat lazy. We live in a world that has become so specialized that we have great focus in some things counterbalanced by equal disorder in others. We are becoming less well-rounded. We are losing our common sense and we then make up stories that cause us to feel drama and upset because we are lacking it in our daily life.

Humanity thrives on adventure. That is why things like “Star Trek” and movies that show humanity reaching beyond their known reality seem so attractive.

But there are endless adventures right here and right now. And I don’t mean a game on a computer. Life is the most complex and most difficult game. It constantly changes and there are no set rules.

Today, take a look at your own life and realize that those moments that are the most special to you … are those moments that you did not know how something would turn out or if you would make it through. Those types of moments define us and show us our hidden depths and potential. We discover our courage and our willingness to go the distance.

So today, look up, and look both ways before crossing the streets of your life. You might see a spectacular rainbow that is a message from the angels and an answer to a deeper question. You could meet someone that could become very important to you. There is an amazing life right here and right now, if we are willing to reach for it.
