The number 1 reminds us that we are all a part of a greater whole. While we might be specific cells in the body of the divine, everyone and everything on this earth of a part of a greater whole. We are individuals experiencing separateness but that is an illusion because we cannot separate ourselves from the rules and laws that govern this planet and nature itself.

The lessons of the number 1 (at the beginning) are about defining who and what we are. We long to feel special and different. And that is the proper evolutionary step to take.

Eventually, we must follow the wheels and circles of life (the zero) and that brings us back to the beginning but now we see things with different eyes. A matured evolution of consciousness on this wheel of life shows us that where we believed we are invincible … life and aging shows us otherwise. Where we think we don’t need others only ourselves, we learn about humility and the dissolution of ego and arrogance.

Humility (the number 1) is about recognizing that we all need each other. Humility is about recognizing that regardless of how smart you think you are, you will make mistakes. It is about understanding that no matter how strong you are now, age and illness will eventually weaken your physical self.

When humility is mature, we no longer care to try to manage the karmic journey of others. We accept feedback and corrections gracefully and with an open heart. We see contradictions as an interesting observation but do not take it as a personal affront. We accept the twists and turns of the human condition. And we choose to be kind even in the face of those who use their feigned intelligence as a weapon of provocation.

Humility recognizes that all dreams a soul yearns for will be difficult but that is how all souls will learn to achieve and to overcome their own limitations.

Humility recognizes that for all our knowing and wisdom, there will be moments when it is insufficient.

Today, we are to remember that we are a part of the greater whole and that it is okay to allow our circumstances to teach us humility. Because what is clear is that we are in a cycle where the fates are going to remind us that we are not in control of this reality.
