Poem – Guilty By Attrition
In times when imbeciles rule.
One must be wary of the very cruel.
It takes great effort to move from a place that is kind.
Those that carry compassion will thrive in this time.
Cruelty is the expression of our wounded side.
It lashes out against those that it can’t abide.
But such souls were lost in another time.
They are a child, victimized by their own nursery rhyme.
Expectations that are too grandiose to thrive.
Cause others to suffer and some may not even survive.
Power is a poison that can taint a soul.
Money can be a toxin that can create an asshole.
It does not have to be so but too often our illusions give permission.
Now many are guilty because of their attrition.
