Poem – Horror That Divides

I know that there are souls that help us see.
I believe that they come to remind us how to be.

They skated across the ice and show us who we are.
And then … in a blink … they now skate among the stars.

I hear their call to us to wake up and to remember to feel.
They sacrificed their grace and beauty as a heavenly appeal.

They touch our hearts in death even more than they did in life.
They ask us to stand up and remember how to fight.

They are the souls we lost because tyrants took control.
Of the lives and deaths of those who to give their very soul.

When will they be stopped because of the horror that they cause.
The dead tell us it is time to stop giving our applause.

They tell us to reflect on the energy that we freely give.
And to not allow those in power to be so hatefully combative.

Are you shocked that one man can do so much wrong?
Are you willing to allow their hate to be your swan song?

Those angel’s now dance among us … to remind us of the light.
That we so freely gave to someone who only wants to fight.

They call to our heart that is closed and barren inside.
They show us if we have chosen this horror that divides.
