Poem – Live in the Sublime

I watch my mother as she refuses to taste life.
Death is stalking her, and she thinks everyone has a knife.

Too often we don’t really embrace what is freely given.
Our ego is too strong, and we are mentally too driven.

Many will seek excitement and want to taste the thills of death.
But most do not know how to enjoy each and every breath.

Life is where all the goodies really are.
From the smell of apple pie … to gazing upon a star.

There are those that are rare and few.
That live each moment and embrace everything new.

Those that die slow and painful deaths.
Did not want to embrace all of life’s little tests.

I want to go out with a blaze of glory and light.
I want to confront every fear and every fright.

I know that my mind is an illusion captivated in this time.
I prefer to live in another reality that is beautiful and sublime.
