Poem – Sit Back and Remember To Be Kind

The clouds roll in and the rain continues to fall.
Life here is quiet even when the world is in a thrall.

I cannot fix the hate that lives in the hearts of men.
I can only do my small part for the wild creatures and the small wren.

The wetness of the land reminds me that life will eventually be renewed.
Those that are destructive will always undermine and collude.

There will be those that argue to justify their hate.
There will always be those whose actions and words seal their fate.

I care only for what is simple and good.
I don’t care if I am listened to or understood.

That is because hate blinds those from things that are kind.
And that is why they fight for the lies that themselves will eventually bind.

I cannot change the lessons of compassion as they come into play.
I see all the attachments and detours that lead mankind astray.

I stopped trying to save those that refuse to learn how to swim.
I know that their mind is set and anything I say will never win.

We learn the most by making mistakes.
We learn to make choices only when we put on the brakes.

The mind is like a motor that wants to race away.
It does not want to think how actions can convey.

What one has hidden deep down inside.
And those horrible parts from which we try to hide.

Such souls align themselves with power and pomp.
They scream louder … that we need “To clear the swamp!”

But the swamp that they project that is not out there in life.
It is actually all their unhealed wounds and unloved strife.

One can never open a closed mind.
But one can sit back and remember to be kind.
