Poem – They Lied …
They lied to us to keep us under their control.
They lied to us because they forgot a part of their soul.
They lied to us to pretend to keep us safe.
They lied to us to prevent us from being great.
They lied because it was easier than the truth.
They lied because we were becoming a sleuth.
They lied because they thought it was wise.
They lied because it was their only disguise.
When you lie, do you see past your own nose?
When you lie, do you feel more relaxed and composed?
If you can see beyond your own experience and fear.
You have begun to break down that toxic veneer.
If you can see past your own lie.
You finally give your soul a chance to fly.
And when the veils of illusion fall away.
The opinions of others will have no sway.
