Poem – The Puppets of a Pretender

I look in horror at what is being destroyed.
It is more upsetting than just being annoyed.

I will not let what has been good and kind in this world.
Be torn apart by those that pretend they hold a flag unfurled.

I will not forget what has been done at this time.
I will not forget those many things done that were a crime.

I will not forget those that stood silent in the wings.
I will not forget those in power that held the strings.

But I am not a puppet to twist and turn about.
I know evil and will always call it out.

I will hold the truth of goodness and let it shine out my eyes.
And if enough stand with me … we can dispel all the lies.

But the road ahead is filled with dangerous turns.
As long as certain people are allowed to continue their terms.
