Poem – What Friends Are For
Do you remember what you came into this life to do?
Do you think that you can become more conscious than a tiny shrew?
We come into this life freshly born.
We have forgotten most things that caused us to mourn.
And that is a good thing to let the past go.
We don’t want to linger on things that dragged us down, you know.
We want to see the world with bright and fresh eyes.
We want to relish the moments and the colorful sunrise.
We start each day, fresh and anew.
We marvel at the magic of even the tiny shrew.
We worry less about what others might think.
We wander around and do not care if we stink.
We allow each moment to be precious and pure.
And that is how we find the tonic that can karma cure.
You see, it is our perceptions that become clouded and then we forget our own soul.
That is how we forget who we are and think only money and a big bankroll.
Will make us happy when money is a means to an end.
When what will really make us fulfilled is a very good friend.
Friends are the cure for so much that ails.
They help us through and even show us trails.
We need each other just as we need air to breathe.
We need to know that another understands our need.
We want to have a chance to make things right.
We want to not worry if we will have to constantly fight.
That is what friends are really for.
They listen and advise but do not ignore.
With one great friend our life will be full.
And the struggles that come will have less of a pull.
