Poem – Dancing With Real Ghosts

Poem – Dancing With Real Ghosts

On a stage in Suriname,

As the ballet began to play,

A black cat crossed the path,

As the misty ghosts begin to sway.

The audience grew nervous,

A bad omen they feared,

Some got up and left,

As the ghosts in the mist appeared.

But Giselle, the main character,

Danced on with all her might,

Until she discovered her costume,

Was beginning to rip in plain sight.

She tried to continue dancing,

But her costume threatened to fall,

She searched for a needle and thread,

To mend the rip, once and for all.

The spirits in the theater,

Seemed to want to play along,

With the ghostly theme of the ballet,

To remind us they were still strong.

As Giselle mended her costume,

The ballet continued on,

And the spirits in the theater,

Danced with her until dawn.

So, if a black cat crosses your path,

And the ghosts begin to rise,

Don’t be afraid of bad omens,

Just dance with them and realize,

That the spirits in the theater,

Are there to dance with you,

And remind you of the magic,

That can happen when we do.
