Poem – Navigating the Journey of a Parents Dementia

 

In the depths of time’s relentless flow,

A parent’s memory begins to fade and go.

Dementia’s cruel grip takes hold,

Leaving you with a story yet untold.

 

The weight of their forgotten past,

Burdens your heart, a pain that lasts.

But fear not, dear friend, for strength resides,

Within your soul, where love abides.

 

Each day brings challenges anew,

As you navigate this path, unsure and true.

But in the face of adversity, you stand tall,

Guided by compassion, you give your all.

 

The memories lost may cause you pain,

But in your heart, they still remain.

For love transcends the bounds of time,

And in your care, their spirit will shine.

 

So take a breath, find solace in the now,

Embrace the moments, and remember to take a bow.

For in this journey, you’ll find your way,

And cherish the love that will never sway.
