Poem – I Felt the Storm Coming

Will we run? Or will we hide?
Will we stand up to what we cannot abide?

I learned these lessons a long time ago.
People will try to make you question what you know.

That is the test to see if you have your mind aligned with your heart.
If you don’t … then those types of people will try to tear you apart.

They look for weakness and will lie to make you hesitate.
The moment you do they will try to anchor you to their fate.

I don’t allow those that carry rocks to weigh me down.
I always saw their shadows that they believed were locked down.

I have walked this road many times.
And I know who is honest and who perpetuate crimes.

And as I watch another tower fall.
I know better than to get into that squall.

I felt the storm before there was a cloud in the sky.
It started when more and more turned a blind eye.

That was when I knew to step back into the trees.
Instead, I listened to the calls of the birds and the bees.

I stepped away from needing to fix.
Those whose weapon was a crucifix.

I believe in a God, and I believe in the Divine.
But I know evil, and I know what is swine.

My path ahead is simple and sincere.
I am here to put my faith in the creatures I hold so dear.

I support nature and she supports me.
I do not trust mankind when it will not protect a tree.

I now know that it is time to live with less.
That way I do not overextend or expect others to confess.

I do not live my life needing to be right.
I am here to fight for compassion with all my might.

But to do that, one must be able to see into the dark.
And become an example and a matriarch.

This world needs women that will stand and lead.
There have been enough wars that allowed so many to bleed.

I wait at the burned edges of egoic minds.
For those that turned and left all things that were unkind.

I do not need anything … anymore from a world that does not see.
I know I am a part of a greater whole and as important as a bee.

I am not here to show anyone the way.
I am here to offer hope and to remind you to play.

In a world that has taken a very serious turn.
I will still hope for compassion even as the world does burn.
