Monthly Astrology for May 2025

To say that May is a huge month … is an understatement. May is a month that is not about asking permission. (Such as, “May I have this dance?”) Quite the opposite. With all the forces catching fire and being given strong winds of air, we are being activated, irritated, and moved to take action. We look to the dreams that many wish to take away and it is not okay on any level.

This is a month that we find our strengths and stop trying to hide our uniqueness. We are not afraid to reveal the truths that are blatant and screaming for us to pay attention. We find those deeper places that know they want to move ambitiously towards our own goals and dreams.

May 4th-5th, Pluto goes retrograde
This retrograde in Pluto sets the tone for this month in spades. Something much deeper is arising and we while I do not expect the world to slow down in any way, we will be deeply considering our actions, options, and decisions moving forward.

May 12th, Full Moon in Scorpio
This Full Moon asks us to get more in touch with our spiritual side and to be able to recognize the light and the darkness within that is attempting to get our attention. Wholeness is calling to our soul, but we have to get the mind to recognize that we need the darkness within to be the fuel to our gifts and light.

Darkness is only a problem when it is denied. Then it twists and distorts into terrible things that have long term consequences for our life and the lives of those we love. This Full Moon illuminates those places that have become distorted and allows us to finally see them and the bloat that our own ego put on them. Only then can we begin to unravel the dysfunction and see the potential in those shadow aspects. This Full Moon is about reclaiming our power and our true purpose.

May 20th, Sun moves into Gemini
We start the season of Gemini and if it was not clear before, the duality in our world will become more and more pronounced. The devils in the world are real and can no longer be denied. But we are still seeking the angels that seem to be quietly operating in the wings and have not yet allowed themselves to be fully seen.

May 24, Saturn goes into Aries with Neptune conjuncting while also in Aries
Saturn makes a bold and powerful shift into Aries where it will conjunct the planet Neptune that went into Aries the end of March this year. To say this is a powerful shift is an understatement. Leadership, individuality, and social order will be under a microscope.

What comes next is a redefining of all our social norms. We will experience the fabric of our old society ripping apart. It is time to dismantle the current patterns of leadership, and we will feel as if something so very deep inside (our intuitive knowing-Neptune) is demanding us to listen and to take action (Saturn). Passivity is thrown to the wayside, and it is replaced with a sense of urgency that demands action. Culturally we are going through an existential identity crisis.

At least the potential for positive and dramatic shifts in art are possible. Art is going to be a lifeline for all of humanity going forwards for over the next decade. It gives us the truth in a way that we can absorb and integrate, and it shows us a path that leads to expansion of who we are, leading to greater insights, and inspiring hope in a world that desperately needs it.

Saturn plans on debunking Neptunes games of smoke and mirrors. The things that used to feel solid are no longer. The ground upon which we have built our reality (Saturn) feels as if that stability is being undermined by Neptunes watery abyss.

For the next two and a half years, our world will feel like we are sobering up after many years of a drug induced binge cycle that was filled with delusions but not really grounded in the real world. We will begin to see that we were drugged and drunk with a poison punch that only now are waking up from. We recognize that not only do we have a hangover, but we have to come to terms with the terrible actions and choices that we made while under the “influence.” Sobering up forces us to have to own that many believed in something that was never really real in the first place.

The theme of a Saturn/Neptune transit is about forcing us to confront the delusions and lies, being shocked to see that the emperor has no clothes and never really had any in the first place … and seeing that some bought into expectations that they needed to believe in when they could not stomach the harsh reality that was staring them in the face.

Historically a Saturn/Neptune transit feels like a deepening darkness that must infect the global consciousness. It is often marked by tremendously discouraging moments and tragic events. Classically this cycle involves a collective malaise that is experienced as physical and emotional exhaustion, disillusionment, and a breakdown of society.

What will be clear is that none of the old rules will apply. In fact, many will be destroyed. The past delusions of the last decade are coming home to roost. This crisis of truth … is real and pervasive. We live in a world that we do not know how to trust. Nor currently should we.

Saturn in Aries will continue to tear down the edifices of our world. The good news is that Saturn in Aries will decree that there are no gods, no emperors, and no masters! If that is the case, then everyone will need to think, act, and do for yourself and the protection of your family. Saturn in Aries will give us no other options. Because all safety nets will have been dismantled.

On the positive note, the last times this type of cycle happened was when the Berlin Wall fell (1989) and the Tiananmen Square protests. That was the beginning of the fall of the Soviet Union which finally completely collapsed in 1991. Perhaps this type of cycle will help the war in Ukraine.

It will become clear that not only are the waters of our world becoming contaminated, but the current state of public information and discourse is equally poisoned. Because of this we will be entering into new information paradigms that will be introduced over the next couple of years. In some ways, the perceptual bubbles seem to be as if everyone is wearing their own headphones while walking through the same world. But our perceptions are distorted by what we are listening to and believing.

May 27, there is a New Moon in Gemini
The month starts and begins to end with the New Moon in Gemini. We seek a body/mind balance. We need to touch our spiritual self in order to find stability in a world gone mad. The outcome is that we have to surrender and go with a flow into an unknown that may or … may not fit the pictures in our mind. If we listen closely, you might just hear a divine message that is deeply personal to you. This could be a day filled with magical coincidences and synchronicities. Now it is time to work on those communication skills.

May 29-30, Sun conjunct Mercury in a Cazimi
This is a powerful way to end this month of May. It will feel as if your batteries are filled, and all systems are being activated. Inspiration is abundant and the mental chatter is interesting and insightful. A pathway will present itself that is completely different than anything our former self could have come up with.

And finally, the Sun in Gemini will align with the star, Aldebaran. This places us in the center of a powerful portal for those that have the courage to step through.

If one embraces this moment, it will activate a part of our mind that allows a fuller integration of our intuitive connection and the next actions and choices that are going to be required of us. It is a moment of clarity that allows us to see what is coming and why. It can define our karmic journey ahead and give us enough insight to be bold and brave.
