Poem – Ballet Training is a Whip in Silk

Poem – Ballet Training is a Whip in Silk

A ballet studio is a sacred ground,

Where dreams are made and stories found,

A magical place of wonder and grace,

An empty canvas to be loved and embraced.

The rigid structure, so military and true,

Creates a container for creation to brew,

A passionate space of a soul’s creative insanity,

Where dancers are trained to become more than vanity.

We till the ground with effort and sweat,

Until strain softens and becomes an asset.

We purify our hearts with passion and pain,

So, creativity may spring forth once again.

Ballet training is a whip in silk,

Egos are smoothed out like homogenized milk,

Softness created from endless pounding of shoes,

And youthful exuberance replaced by wisdom infused.

Oh, how the studio is a sacred place,

Where time ticks away in passions haste,

And dancers become vessels for elemental forces,

And beautiful human bodies have the power of horses.
