Poem – The Turning of the Tides

Poem – The Turning of the Tides

The tides of 2024.
Crack us open so we beg for more.

I listen to the shifting sands.
Of a young “father time” as he shakes our hands.

The leaning of the world is something to behold.
It is an ancient tale that no one knows how old.

We are asked to embrace what we do not know.
We are asked to lean into a reality and a new flow.

But what is on the other side is something very unique.
Aquarius and Uranus are going to change what we seek.

This world has outgrown so much that we are in pain.
Those that refuse to budge are causing terrible strain.

We must take a look at the truth of who and what we are.
We cannot shift into this new magnificent star.

If we are unwilling to see the failures of the past.
It is time to reshape and allow something new to be recast.

There will be those that cannot make the change.
Many will leave as our reality is rearranged.

The clock is ticking much faster now.
It will not matter if we agree or intend to allow.

Something new this way comes.
But I guarantee it is not going to be sugar plums.

Too many madmen who have unleashed a legion of hate.
Normal people drank poison and took the bait.

And now we stand at the edge of a world on the brink.
We will have to pay attention and recognize the stink.

The stink is the smell of misery and death.
It lingers in the air around those who want to play Macbeth.

This play is about the damage of political ambition.
Too many leaders have no soul or contrition.

I watch as I see the choices that topple power and greed.
Such souls will not bend because they will never accede.

So while Humpty-Dumpty sits on the wall.
He cares not if those things that really matter fall.

Perhaps we need to rebuild in a way that the old dies.
In the meantime, we hear the suffering and all the cries.

I stand at the doorway to peace.
But to do that, the option of war must finally cease.

Is humanity ready to step past its primal ways.
Are we ready to shift hate to praise?

I am not sure. In fact, I am convinced we are not yet there.
There are too many who criticize and quickly compare.

But I believe that a day will come.
One that heralds that we finally refuse to run.

And that is the day that everything will change.
Then we will figure out other ways to fairly exchange.
