3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 14
1 + 4 = 4

With today being the number 5, it is time to lay out the plans for that garden this spring. After all spring is in the air and we just “leaped forward” with the time change. Clearly, we are preparing for many other leaps, and I find thinking things through a few times and getting the opinions of those wiser than myself are always a great idea.

I have never been the gardener until I got to northern California. And I am surrounded by those that were a part of the “back to the land” tradition in the 1970’s who are just full of very solid ideas on how to make the most out of a garden. I am really just a novice in this arena … but I know that keeping our minds alert and fit is about being willing to continue to learn as we age. Minds need exercise also. And now is not the time to be complacent and lazy around learning …. as this world so dramatically shifts.

Today, go barefoot in the grass. Get your hands in the soil and pull out those weeds while the ground is wet, and they pull out easily.

The more we mature … the more we recognize that while that youthful, spontaneous way of moving that was our childhood, needs to be balanced with a more forward-thinking reality. A mature mind plans ahead. And a mind that is in tune with nature sees the patterns unfolding and makes the necessary adjustments accordingly.

Look to those things that are cleansing, grounding, and healing. If you have access to a sweat lodge, that is a great way to attune to the forces of the divine and place yourself back in alignment with nature.

This is a day to start that cleanse. Perhaps some fasting is appropriate for your body to eliminate toxins.

We are here to realize that what we need is more connection to the land and nature not less. It is time to listen and to become the stewards of this earth rather than the ravagers of it.

When we are in harmony with the land … then we walk a softer path. One that naturally holds more compassion for all of life.
