We seek the sensation of life … coming back around. Notice what in your life is allowing that to be the case at this time.

Look at your life with wonder and amazement. Notice how you might embrace death. Death comes to us in many forms in our lives. Life requires us to exercise our skills in learning to let go. There is no accident that when we allow a feeling to be felt, there is often a sigh that escapes our lips or a deep and prolonged exhale.

Throughout our lives we are asked to let things go. We have to let jobs go, expectations go, and even people go. But even more important is that we have to let go of what we used to be, what we have accomplished, and we have to learn to let our old successes go. Wholeness requires us to release so that we can expand. We are not unlike a snake that must shed its skin that has become too tight for the snake to expand into a more mature and larger self.

The process of letting that skin go requires the snake to … for a time … become blinded, as even the skin and tissue around the eyes become milky and hard. We often feel (as we are letting go) that we cannot see where we are actually going. Just like the snake the process is a natural one but one that can often be uncomfortable.

When we are ready to grow, it is the discomfort that asks us to embrace it. In that way, we learn that all transitions require from us a moment to own up to the fact that we have come to the edge of who we have known ourselves to be. Being on any edge is uncomfortable. But when we embrace the unknown and let go of who we used to be … the doorways are smoother and less traumatic.

Today is one of those days. The number 9 calls to us to let go and to trust even the discomfort that seems to be a syndrome of this time in history.

Because what awaits on the other side … I promise will be worth it.
