1 + 8 = 9

Today, see this number 9 as an indicator that it is again time to let go of the old and be open to the new. In a chaotic world, one must follow one’s heart and the promptings of spirit, the soul, and our intuitive self. That does not mean that such a path will be easy even if we feel guided to do just that.

Doing the right thing is much harder to do than the wrong thing. It is easy to fall into the powerful flows of the herd mentality.

That is why all seekers of truth and light go to mountaintops, monasteries, or use tools of solitude, meditation, and find themselves walking alone.

There is a point in everyone’s life where we recognize that we cannot follow the ways of mass consciousness. We recognize that the answers are not outside us. That requires us to do those things where we seek to go inside. To do that … we understand that we will have to remove ourselves from the trappings and addictions of society.

This number 9 gives us additional perspective and a willingness to go inward. If embraced, we can be more easily propelled towards the path that is ours and ours alone. It is the pattern of all great people and seekers to know that they must step back and step into those places that call to their soul.

This is why in Buddhism, the first door to enlightenment is self-love but the second door is aloneness. Each soul will have to find the answers they seek … alone. This does not mean that such a process is lonely. It does not have to be that at all.

In fact, when one dives willingly and deeply into the essence of one’s being, they discover a fabulous pure light within that has unlimited potential.

Being around really enlightened people or gurus, you see that they are completely at peace, no matter what is happening. Being alone gives great satisfaction. Being with others is a choice that can do the same. When one is whole and complete, there is no more striving or seeking. There is acceptance and understanding of the cycles of life and with what is in each moment.

They see that this world is a marvel and a wonder of beauty, majesty, and love. But they understand that sometimes humanity can take that magic and turn it into something dark. The core essence of enlightenment is to be able to hold both lightly and to know the difference so that each choice one makes is in alignment with the core truths that support life, love, connection, and peace.

Today is a day to practice that art of balancing the light and the dark within. When that happens … intuition opens and we find that in darkness there is light and in the light there is darkness.
