1 + 1 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 4 = 18
1 + 8 = 9

The number 9 is the witness to what is. It is the instinct to observe what has passed and to be still while we wait for that next impulse of knowing and certainty that will lead us forward.

This is the number that sees the passage of time. It is the reminder that time flies, but it leaves a shadow in its wake. That shadow is the past that is no more, and the number 9 reminds us to not waste time thinking about yesterday because when you do that you can never create a better tomorrow.

I remember a friend of mine was in an induced coma for her body to recover and she needed to be on a ventilator. When she was knocked out, she was floating above the earth watching this beautiful green and blue ball rotating in space. The angels said to her, “See all the Gods and Goddesses dancing around the planet? They are just a part of the cycles of life and death, and they mean nothing!”

I think of the number 9 in this same way. In times of awakened awareness, we can look at a moment, and see that life is full of events and actions. But they are often short, absurd and in the end really lack any meaning at all. We live in a blink in the eye of the divine. And in the place of that divinity … linear time is but one reality playing out.

Today, remember that ‘someday’ is a diseased thought that can take your dreams to the grave so that they then will never see the light of day.

Make today count. Begin to bring those dreams into existence. Allow them to live! Even if it is just a short burst of light in the darkness of reality.
