Poem – Caring Promotes Grace

If we all could learn how to share and care.
We could find a way to make this world a prayer.

Prayers have been said for ages past.
Some make things change and some never last.

That is because we need to learn how to look past the cravings of greed.
And instead look to what is in the deepest need.

As I was young, I reached for the stars.
I did not want money or fancy cars.

I wanted to do something that illuminated my soul.
I wanted to inspire others. That was the greater goal.

And as I have aged and come now to this place.
I see that my choice has given me grace.

Grace to see the beauty in all.
Grace to understand that I did not need to know it all.

Because knowing, while a power that can create great things.
Does not have the power to give my soul wings.

And now, as I sit quietly by the warm fire.
I finally understand that I do have … all I desire.
