Poem – Fairies Rising

As I rise from the earth, I shake the dirt from my wings.
It takes quite an effort to clean such powerful things.
But the wind is blowing and calling to my soul.
And as much as I love the earth, the air is now my goal.

It is time to let the deaths of the past drop gracefully away.
The time is now to reclaim the part of me that is a “Fay.”
I have lived a long time in this earthly realm.
But my wings have decided to take the helm.

So, I leap off the cliff and into the powerful wind.
Spring is the time to dream and pretend.
What call is strong enough for you to let go of your past?
And when it comes will you do what you are asked?

It may take great effort to crawl out from the hurt.
It will take a moment to free your wings from all the dirt.
But in the end, there is an exhilarating future that lies ahead.
And if you hear the call, then you are clearly not dead.
