Poem – Life Will …

There are moments when life makes you feel like a drudge.
So much is demanding and it makes you move through sludge.

In those moments, I think to those in my past.
And marvel at their determination to last.

Because they never gave up, I am here today.
And so I look ahead and try to not be in dismay.

Life requires tremendous effort and care.
Life is about carrying many things up and down a stair.

But to keep going, one cannot give up.
And it will be impossible to make some actually shut up.

In this domain, we learn patience and intent.
There is no reason to stop for long to lament.

Life will always ask you for one more thing.
And life will take from you everything to which you cling.
