Poem – My Crown
I have a crown that is made of angel wings.
It has witnessed many moments and many things.
It glistens in the morning light.
It is filled with hope instead of fright.
The diamonds that sparkle come from deep inside.
From all those times that I cried and cried.
Each tear that was loved and allowed to flow.
Became a diamond of clarity for me to know.
When we learn to embrace all, we are inside.
When we are not afraid of who we are or all the things we have tried.
We become our own alchemists that can turn lead into gold.
And we finally stop thinking that we need to do what we are told.
I wear a crown to show respect for myself.
I wear a crown to inspire others to just be themself.
I do not need to stand upon a throne.
But I will wear this crown and continue to roam.
Because this crown is not about fame or power.
This is a crown that is a watchtower.
She comes with me wherever I go.
She connects me to what is above even when I am below.
She is a reminder that all the kindness that I manage to give away.
Eventually comes back to me in another day.
Without the power of love inside to fuel my heart.
This crown would hold no meaning, and ego might tear it apart.
I have the ability to pass this crown to those who really deserve.
And know what it actually means and those who are willing to preserve.
As I walk through this life, I give bits of that crown away.
To those with good hearts that are standing at the doorway.
That is what the power of this crown is actually about.
It was never about keeping power or having clout.
It was about sharing what I have accumulated and learned.
It is about loving the differences and being lovingly concerned.
Tomorrow I may have walked away and through a door.
To never return or ever even a score.
If you find my crown by the door on the ground.
Pick it up … as it is your turn to be crowned.
