Poem – Pretense

There are days when the glue just doesn’t seem to stick.
And things come undone just when life is in the thick.
We try to hold things together all the time.
But there are moments when doing that is a crime.

Staying strong while it is a good defense.
Can come across as arrogance and pretense.
So the next time you see someone strong but tight.
Remind them that no matter what they are alright.

We have to have moments to let go and just cry.
Vulnerability is preferred over being the bad guy.
Look to those moments when pretense falls away.
Because only then are we not being led astray.
