Poem – Sitting Under The Redwood Tree
The older I get … the more I can see.
Perhaps it is because I sit and listen to the trees.
Under the canopy of forty foot limbs.
My mind is quiet and imagination swims.
The creatures that live in my forest are at peace.
The insanity of mankind, I can easily release.
Together we listen and watch the day pass by.
Every living thing has its place even the tiny fly.
I look to a moment when we can let nature set the course.
Rather than the minds of those who believe power is force.
I am not here to change this world in any way.
I am here to explore, wander, and play.
Each will learn what they need to overcome.
The places they are blind and the choices that were dumb.
And while the games of humanity play out in this place.
I will be sitting under the redwood tree embodying grace.
