Poem – The Dance of the Dandelions

Have you seen them prancing all around.
Out in the yard ready to astound.
The dandelions are awake and showing off their mane.
And the bees are dancing joyously to great acclaim.

The beautiful yellow buds are shining in the light.
Spring has arrived and to their great delight.
The flowers of spring herald that now is the time.
The other plants respond and leap also into their prime.

But the dandelion is so strong and is good for the soul.
Its roots heal the liver, and its leaves grace the salad bowl.
These broad leaves help digestion and allow organs to cleanse.
This is a flower that loves the children and loves to make friends.

Dandelions are strong so they do not mind being picked.
They will share what they have because they know they are perfect.
So today, look for the dandelions that prance around your yard.
And remember that they are to be celebrated as an honor guard.

They herald the spring has come in at last.
They remind us to not look any beauty … as an outcast.
Because they are bright and beautiful, strong and loud.
They will return every year because they show it is okay to be proud.

Make a wish and blow the seeds away.
Let this plant dance and allow us to also play.
And as those seeds float into the evening light.
Remember that being a weed is not a blight.

Yellow is the color of emotional well-being.
The white of the seeds is illuminating and freeing.
The green of the leaves is bold and brash.
And that deep tap root is strong enough to last.
