Poem – The Truth and the Mirror
I looked in the mirror and what did I see.
But a vision that I was you and you were me.
That is the truth that is more real than we know.
If we would embrace this truth then we could finally go.
“But go where?” You ask. As you stare off into space.
Oh, what about out there, somewhere, where there is more grace.
We long for peace but we thrive in war.
We seek to know but too often decide to even the score.
In this world where the light can be very dark.
We are here to discover that inside our soul is a magnificent park.
Or perhaps a garden filled with magic and delights.
Where animals feel safe and no longer feel fright.
In my mirror I see millions of my faces.
Staring back at me with looks that put me through my paces.
But I love them all and know that they have something in mind.
And I also know that each one of them really wants to be kind.
It is just that they have been through so much and have lost their faith.
That happens here and those parts become wraiths.
They are not bad, they were denied a fair break.
They believed in those that were determined to be fake.
And so now they are trapped waiting for forgiveness to break their chains.
So they can find the way back and our soul to reclaim.
If you feel not whole, it is because something was hidden away.
You were afraid of their experience, their pain and dismay.
It is up to us to open back up those gates.
So they can become one with us, instead of weights.
Beyond the veils of right and wrong.
The truth is that our soul is just one endless song. ~Suzanne Wagner~
