Poem – Dance is Freedom from a Kiss

The spotlights shown creating golden lights.
The costumes sparkled with innocent delight.
The orchestra announced the coming of the storm.
The dancers prepared for magic, as it was their norm.

The satin shoes were broken in and molded into shape.
The men wrapped themselves in their dark cape.
The dancers pranced around warming to the stage.
The ghosts gathered with the audience to remember a golden age.

All beauty is adored whether it is false or true.
The faces change to create something old and new.
The dancers stretch and bend on the ballet bars.
Legwarmers hide more than injuries and scars.

The music begins and the lights go on.
The fog rolls in to the perfect orchestral song.
In the faces of those youthful gazes.
Ballets bring wonder as emotion blazes.

The curtain rises and the joyful dance begins.
Ballerinas leap and show us the magic of spins.
Eventually as the curtain comes down.
And bravos erupt from the audience town.

Together we have created a moment of wonder and delight.
We felt into the truth that is the human blight.
We wandered alone and lost in the mists.
Until true love finally freed us with a kiss.
