Poem – An Open Mind Eventually Becomes An Open Heart

 

At first, my mind was closed and tight,

Resistant to what was out of sight,

My views were set, my thoughts were firm,

And any challenge made me squirm.

 

But then I met some open minds,

Who didn’t judge or fall behind,

They listened well and learned with ease,

And saw the forest through different trees.

 

Their kindness warmed my frozen heart,

And slowly tore my walls apart,

I began to question what I knew,

And saw the world in shades of new.

 

With every insight, every thought,

My heart grew bigger and less distraught,

Compassion bloomed where once was none,

And love spread out, like the rays of sun.

 

And so I learned, with open mind,

Comes open heart, of the most gentle kind,

So let us all strive to be,

A little more open, so that others can see.

 

That through the process of allowing more in.

That we where we find others that are our kin.

And together we can discover and roam.

Into new places that we will still call home.
