It is eclipse day. Marking an ending and a beginning in our and your world. It is time to question your old habits and behaviors as you search for new and inventive ways to make progress. This is the ideal time to make a fresh start. It is a perfect day for writing down your New Year’s Resolutions. The Solar Eclipse January 5, 2019 astrology will compliment themes found in the January 21 Lunar Eclipse. Together, they make up an eclipse phase which lasts until the July 2, 2019 solar eclipse. The energy tends to be serious in tone because 5 of the planets are in responsible, hard-working Capricorn. Set long term goals and include deadlines. That will help you complete what you start today. Pluto is involved in this combination, and the god of the underworld demands you release anything that takes away your power, be it things, people, attitudes or beliefs. Saturn is also tied to this eclipse so work towards the long-term goals rather than expecting immediate gratification. Mercury just moved into Capricorn until January 23, so make a concrete plan. Write it down and put dates to be completed on your calendar.

The Saturn-Pluto midpoint in Capricorn gives a very serious, dark feel to this solar eclipse. One of the aspects to the eclipse is a sextile to Neptune which lightens the mood. But the strongest single influence on the solar eclipse comes from a very close alignment to one of the brightest stars in the heavens, the massive fixed star Vega. This gives a positive influence and a sense of a good omen when it conjuncts the sun above the horizon. It brings in the qualities that are more poetic, harmonious, charitable, kind, hopeful, and more refined. But Vega also has some less favorable qualities. Watch out for being critical, abrupt, reserved, insincere, and disgraceful.

Over all this eclipse has serious overtones but if you have the discipline and patience to do what you are obligated to complete, things will go well. Creatively for artists and musicians this is a highly creative day. Sensitivities are heightened and goals seem somehow achievable. Dreams explode in color and intuitive guidance and you have greater empathy for your family and friends. Know your limitations, work in a sensible and structured manner, be optimistic and those goals can be achieved. You will have to show patience and self-discipline without denying yourself, selling out, or making sacrifices. Know your limitations and focus on what really matters. It is important to know who you are, what you want, and where you want to go. The changes made today have long term potential.

People who cling to the past somehow believe that the past manifestations are the parts that will fulfill them. But the past is just small pieces of a life that is seeking meaning and awakening. While the past and those in it are gifts that open doorways to your authentic self, they are not the answer, nor can they give more than they have given. You cannot expect people to give what they do not have. Just because someone gave it to you in the past does not mean that energy will come back to you in the future. Every person is on their own karmic journey. We each share gifts and then have to move on. Nothing in life is permanent nor guaranteed. Take each moment as a gift and treasure that. But when it is complete you have to learn to let it go and move on. There are moments that you cannot compromise who you are and what you came to give waiting for something to come back around. If you do, it is a wasted life.
