Poem – My Feral Boy

Suzanne Wagner’s Poem – My Feral Boy

The orange tabby decided to come into my room.
He was so curious and wanted to consume.
All the smells that were of the inside.
His curiosity at that moment could not be denied.

So, he walked in of his own accord.

He slunk around, not remotely bored.
He wanted to become familiar with this new zone.
He carefully decided to explore my home.

Until he saw the scratching post.
That is when he became totally engrossed.
He reached up high and indulged his claws.
He was going to leave his scent with his paws.

A blissful look took over his face.
A happiness that could not be erased.
Now, he is lying peacefully on the rug.
Sleeping soundly as if on a drug.

He is so strong with great big feet.
His head is solid, while his body is sleek.
He looks up at me with those golden eyes.
And the love he feels just cannot be denied.

He is brave and bold. He wants to belong.
He looks for me if he hears my song.
I love the orange boys; they are lovers in their souls.
Now he sleeps at the door, ever on patrol.
