Poem – The October Mood

The October Mood

We move into the month of goblins and ghosts.
Spooky things seem to leer from behind bedposts.
Pumpkins stare out into the night.
Prepared to startle and give quite a fright.

We are in the season of falling leaves.
We are noticing the winds moving through the trees.
The darkness calls and the dead arise.
Gardens wilt and cobwebs fly across the skies.

Chase the moon across the darkened night.
Embrace October’s moon without a fight.
We have this month to prepare our disguise.
Halloween is calling and there are plans to devise.

We call out to something that is in the dark.
This is the moment to go out on some fantastic lark.
Become the part that you too often hide.
Let him or her come out and go for a ride.

I have a broom if you need a lift.
I have a wand if you need help to shift.
Come with me and I will show you the door.
To that place where in the darkness there is more.
