Quote

I took a moment to reconnect to the land.

I asked for peace for those that still stand.

The courage that defending one’s land can cost.

Is never a failure and such a sacrifice is never lost.
I asked for an awakening to come to all.

I asked for the Russian people to demand a withdrawal.

Why destroy so much? What is the point?

There was no conflict, only one man’s viewpoint.

May we find a doorway back to peace.

May all the horror be stopped and cease.
It is time for the Russians to take back their homeland.

From a terrorist who has become a madman.

I pulled out some old and favorite dishes that I bought when I lived in Germany during the cold war.
They are made in Italy, “Tuscia Mancioli” and are fabulous stoneware.

I love these dishes as they are durable, and even when I have occasionally dropped them … they have not broken.
They were very expensive at the time but well worth it.
There are things that remind me of those moments when things were made for the long haul.
Something as useful and seen every day, such as dishes … are one of those things that make a world of difference in our daily life.

I marvel at the artists that took such great care and detail to make things that would last. It is as if their lifeforce and legacy is still in the clay and coloring of those plates and dishes.
Then I look at my mother’s quilts and they too will last for a long time as they were made with such love and detail.

In a world where so much is made to be thrown away. I am pulling back into those things that I know I will have for a very long time and that can outlive me.

One of my next projects is to reupholster the dining set that I have that was bought when I was a child in Texas. This set is made from steel and glass and it has been moved around but still is in a solid condition. But the fabric is finally falling apart.

Perhaps this week, I will start to take it all apart, sand and paint the metal a different color and reupholster the seats and make it look better.

In times such as these, I do best with projects that require time and effort.
