Blog for 8/31/2023 – Personal Note

On the 3^rd of September, I am off to Croatia for 11 days. I am excited to see a place that is new and unfamiliar to me. I feel so blessed that I have wonderful friends in my life who want to take me on their adventures, and so I will tell all of you … about it when I get back.
We are going to be on many boats and catamarans to navigate through the blue waters of the Adriatic Sea and we will be staying on the beautiful islands of this Mediterranean country.
August was a month filled with many gifts as I celebrated my birthday month in style. My husband took me for three days to the coast to stay in a small house along the ocean, and we had a beautiful private dinner at a 5-star hotel.
Then, once we got back, my husband’s sister and her husband came to stay for a few days, and we were able to finally distribute their mothers’ ashes and have a lovely ceremony along the wild northern California coast. It was a beautiful completion to the life of a woman who gave much and sought peace and love throughout many trials and tribulations.
Now we move into the month of harvests and our Delicata squashes are coming in, tomatoes and exploding, peppers are reminding us that it is time for fresh salsa, and our onions planted last fall are enormous and perfectly ready to combine with our amazing harvest of garlic.
I have uncovered the last of my strawberries for the birds and the raccoons that visit, and I am working on training my ravens to come when called for their breakfast of dried cat food.
Peaceful co-existence is important in this wild world at the edge of the redwood forest, and I believe we are all learning to work with each other and find harmony. It is my hope for our world as well. If each of us can take steps to learn the lessons that support co-existence, I believe that together we can make a much better world.
