Poem – The Magic of December

Poem – The Magic of December

December is a time for festive plays.
We listen to the snow, and we look to be amazed.
We play songs that we remember from another time.
We sing along enjoying the rhythm and rhyme.

We dream of sweet things and soft sweaters.
Candlelight by the fireplace and festive weather.
We seek to come together and enjoy the company we keep.
We rush to sales events when things are dirt cheap.

December is a time to wrap packages on the floor.
While pies bake in the oven and cookies are a score.
We watch favorite movies and cry all over again.
We become more nostalgic and want to remember when.

Try to make this holiday something to remember.
Not because of the gifts but because we decide to surrender.
Let go of the conflicts that families naturally have.
And instead allow this month to be a healing salve.

Remember to put that wreath on the door.
Leave cookies and milk for Santa to adore.
Let the past go and be fully here now.
Remember that family is about connections that allow.

Allow others to be their best selves.
Let everyone turn into playful, wondrous elves.
