Poem – Death is a Poets Graveyard
In death, we let go of all things
we think we know.
Death is the path
that muddles the mind
but illuminates the moonlight.
In the silences where the ravens gather,
we begin the process
to become decomposing soil,
our mouths open to gasp at life
one final time before our eyes
close to become the hooded eclipse
of our souls escape into another domain.
In embracing this harbinger of death,
we have no more will to fight
but from our earthly mouth words
become metaphors dancing
upon the surfaces of regretful waters.
I know that life will dance on.
Even as my words become
a part of the tome in the poet’s graveyard.
