Poem – Only In Risk Do You Become Truly Free

Could I live without the hope inside my soul?
I am sure that it is a part of my greater purpose in this life.
I do not want to worry about how I look or sound when laughter fills my entire being.
In those moments I do not care what others think or if I look silly and foolish.
When I feel my heart touch the depth inside another being, I cannot help but weep, and from my tears comes forth the exact words that they often long and need to hear.
And I do not care if others label me as sentimental.
When something external is very wrong, I will always take the risk to speak up and expose truth, even if I know I will be met with some disagreement and resentment.
I know a few important things about this world.
You cannot fully live … if you fear loss.
You cannot be a beacon of hope … if you fear despair.
You will never try new things … if you are afraid to fail.
But I also know that a soul that has never risked anything is chained to a wall that is called “belonging.”
Those that need to fit in, risk nothing, have nothing, and are not showing who they really are.
They think that belonging will help them avoid the pain and suffering of life.
They do not realize that they are the very souls that continuously create it.
They cannot see that they are imprisoned by a desire to avoid something and in doing that they have given up all their freedom.
