Poem – Sand and Salt

There is nothing like the smell of salt and sand.
The ocean calls are hypnotic as I walk across the strand.
By the ocean, one can feel at peace.

And I wonder if this world will ever learn to cease.

Cease the fighting and the wars.
Cease destroying the world outdoors.
We cannot accomplish great things.
If hearts are broken and angels have no wings.

Many lost the path and have wandered alone.
Angry, bitter, and feeling as if they must atone.
But they do not see that they strayed off the course.
It was their mind that pulled with such a great force.

That they listened to it rather than their own heart.
And that is how evil gets ahold and begins to start.
It starts to tear all good things away.
It makes us think we must work more than play.

That is how we wandered off the path.
And we watched the world turn peace to wrath.
I stand on my path and watch so many go.
I tell them that their path is quid pro quo.

And such a path will not guide them home.
It will only let them wander even more alone.
I cannot show them the path that leads them back.
They believe that their choice is the one and only track.
