Poem – Shifting On A Dime

In art and beauty, we escape the density and reclaim hope.
It is the most lovely way to willingly be a part of life and learn to cope.
I have seen souls trapped in places that were dark and dreary.
They got caught by beliefs of others that were opinions and theory.

But trapped they were by family, choice, or by birth.
And such situations destroyed their self-worth.
It takes a brave soul to follow their heart.
When from the beginning they were in a hole before they could start.

I believe that every soul can awaken.
I believe that things right now can leave us shaken.
But I know that there is courage inside those that do not speak up.
And there will be a moment when enough is enough.

And while they may not shout for truth and freedom from the highest mountain.
I know in their heart there is a powerful fountain.
And that fountain will spring forth when it is finally their time.
Because goodness can make things shift on a dime.
