Poem – Springtime in California

The flocks of banded pigeons have swooped in.
Telling me that spring is ready to begin.
The cats are shedding their winter coat.
The birds like the soft bedding, and that is all she wrote.

Everything is preparing for the babies to come.
We even have pigs that are now on the run.
They squeal and grunt as they go through the leaves.
They are looking for acorns underneath the trees.

My asparagus is coming in with tasty, tender shoots.
My lettuce loves the cold and wet to put down its roots.
The hummingbirds have arrived in droves.
And the apple trees are blooming white in their groves.

The springtime in California is a wonder to see.
I look out from my house and wonder at all the bees.
I live a life now more in alignment with natures flow.
And as the wind blows, it tells me that it is time to go.
