Poem – The Paths of the Red, White, and the Blue
Three paths diverged of red, white, and blue.
Three variations that say, “One is better that two!”
Three choices defining who and what could be.
But Red and Blue want to fight into eternity.
The red path was filled with hate and fight.
They did not care if something was wrong or right.
They just wanted to do battle and win a war.
They wanted mostly to settle a score.
The blue path fought back and intended to disarm.
With lawsuits they believed government was being personally harmed.
They walked the path of truth but no one seemed to care.
They fought for the weak, while the reds only offered a prayer.
The white path watched knowing that neither would succeed.
Not while one side wanted to make the other bleed.
They saw that too many could not be turned around.
Not with the truth or any hopeful sound.
That is because they understood a deeper truth that could only come in its own time.
Fighting would not help, nor would it shorten the climb.
What they knew lay ahead would be something so very new.
But it would take time for it to finally accrue.
Massive moments in history take tremendous amounts of sweat and toil.
Especially when the reds had destroyed our ancestors’ soil.
Soil has to be rebuilt for it to become fertile to grow.
Rebuilding always takes time and goes very slow.
The white wanted to bring the red and the blue back into the fold.
Only together can they again become a stronghold.
The white knows that now is not the time to push.
Because the red and the blue have each prepared an ambush.
The white understands that peace will eventually come their way.
So, they will wait patiently and not fall into dismay.
They will know when the time is right.
Because truth will eventually become … very bright.
